Affiliates bring the homes. We bring the sun.

An affiliate has the house, the family, and the volunteers. Give Solar has the design, the permits, and the crew. The collaborative is the agreement in between, and it fits on two pages.

A volunteer crew spread across the roof of a Habitat home, fixing rails and panels in place.
1 volunteer Saturday per roof
5 kW typical system
25 yrs of production reporting

What the affiliate brings

Five things, all of which an affiliate already has. Nothing on this list requires new staff or a new budget line.

The roof
A home with a roof under ten years old and southern exposure.
The family
A partner family who is interested in saving money on their electric bill.
Homeowner education
Shares information about solar opportunities with homeowners.
A solar contract
The next step once a family is interested. The affiliate is not heavily involved in signing it.
The utility
Local utility account details for interconnection.

What Give Solar brings

Everything that needs a license, a permit, or twenty-five years of follow-through.

Design
Array design, shading analysis, and production modeling.
Permits
Permits, inspections, and the utility interconnection filing.
The crew
A licensed lead installer and electrician on site all day.
Commissioning
Commissioning, monitoring setup, and the homeowner walkthrough.
Reporting
Twenty-five years of production reporting to the affiliate.

Fourteen weeks from yes to power

A typical schedule. Individual builds vary.
WeekWhat happens
Week 1Site visit and roof assessment with the construction lead
Week 3Design issued, sponsorship assigned to the address
Week 6Permit approved, hardware ordered and staged locally
Week 11Install day. One Saturday, twelve to eighteen volunteers
Week 14Utility approval, system energized, first lower bill

Start with a site visit.

We will look at one roof, model what it would produce, and tell you honestly whether it is worth doing.
